Work-linked training for the future of farming professions

GROUPE MAÏSADOUR
Every year, the Group recruits dozens of young people for its various departments on this work-study format. With lasting success, as Hugo Langlade shows.

A work-study program is a win-win contract between a company and a young person. On the one hand, the company gradually trains people for specific positions, and on the other, the student gets a foot in the door of the working world. Maïsadour has been making this commitment for a long time in all its businesses, with almost 70 young people taking part every year. In fact, this scheme echoes pillar 3 of our AMBiTiON 2030 strategy.

Hugo Langlade has been there. Now a Development Manager in Animal Production, his memories are more than positive. “ I was taken on as part of a work-study program because the person occupying my post was about to retire. Maïsadour wanted to train someone, while explaining to me that, without doubt, I would then replace her ”, he sums up.

That’s about how many work-study students Maïsadour used to recruit every year before Covid. This figure fell to 45 during the crisis, and is now back to its original level.

Training for tomorrow's agricultural professions

This work-study program has delighted him, both in terms of learning the job and the support he receives in the departments. “ I was able to immerse myself in the environment, get a good grounding and be sure that it matched my expectations ”, he explains. He admits: “ Maïsadour is a large group, which is reassuring for my future, and the team spirit makes the day-to-day work motivating and enjoyable.

The young Development Manager’s contract was naturally extended, this time on a permanent basis, and he is now putting this acquired experience to good use to help members succeed and ensure the long-term future of their farms. Hugo Langlade is one of Maïsadour’s 2 advisors on the major issue of farm transfers. His ambition: “to build a farming world adapted to today’s constraints, by bringing in the vision of the younger generations ”.
