January 13, 2025 is a date to remember. As the 60th anniversary of Label Rouge, it is synonymous with superior quality and exceptional expertise in the field of agri-food products. Since its creation, Label Rouge has established itself as an undisputed benchmark for discerning consumers, promoting products produced using rigorous production methods that respect tradition.

On this occasion, Francine, Benoît and Étienne tell us about their history with the Label Rouge:

The very first Label Rouge, awarded in 1965 under number 01.65, went to the famous yellow Landes chicken. This flagship product alone illustrates the values of the label: quality of taste, respect for farming conditions and high standards at every stage of production.

A Quality Tradition: The Landes Breeders’ Initiative

In 1965, a determined group of Landes breeders made history in the French poultry industry. Driven by pride in their know-how and the exceptional quality of their production, these breeders “went up to the ministry” to defend their traditional methods loud and clear.

Their approach is based on free-range poultry rearing in the middle of nature, providing a living environment that respects both animals and the environment. This farming method, far removed from intensive practices, not only guarantees animal welfare, but also contributes to the exceptional taste quality of the poultry produced.

This initiative has made it possible to promote a sustainable agricultural model, where respect for living beings and the quest for taste excellence go hand in hand. Today, this heritage continues to inspire new generations of breeders who are keen to preserve these fundamental values.
