TANACARE: providing a solution to the sensitive issue of euthanasia
TANACARE is the first poultry dummy designed for the practice of cervical dislocation. Specially designed to teach manual euthanasia of poultry, it avoids any inexperienced gestures on a live animal.
The subject of euthanasia for animals in pain is a sensitive one that is rarely discussed, yet it is one that has a genuine animal welfare dimension.
When animals are ill or injured, with little chance of recovery (lack of response to treatment, chronic pain and distress, inability to eat or drink, etc.), relieving their suffering is an obligation for farmers. With TANACARE, euthanising poultry is a responsible, considered act that respects both the animal and its farmer.
