ALONGSIDE FARMERS, EVER BETTER TRAINED TECHNICIANS

MAÏSADOUR GROUP
Committed to maintaining the skills of its technicians in terms of Animal Welfare and Biosecurity, Maïsadour has set up a training programme with the Technical Institute for Poultry Farming (ITAVI).

Focus on the well-being of farmers at work

Putting technicians on the same wavelength as farmers. That was Maïsadour’s aim when, a few weeks ago, it organised training courses for animal production technicians on Animal Welfare and Biosafety.

Technicians met up for a day to discuss these subjects. “In the morning, there was a common core of Animal Welfare and Biosecurity topics, but we also added the Farmers’ Wellbeing at Work. This is a real concern for producers”, explains Emilie Lassabe, Quality Manager and Biosafety Advisor at Maïsadour.

A training course led by ITAVI

Bénédicte Pennanguer, a poultry trainer at ITAVI since 2022, after 14 years as a palmiped and poultry production technician, was in charge. “ITAVI is a benchmark organisation. For Maïsadour, it’s a real added value for the training courses we offer“, says Emilie Lassabe.

According to Bénédicte Pennanguer, the result is a success: “At first, the technicians were expecting training that was more focused on standards and regulations. In fact, we provided them with tools and that was a pleasant surprise for them.

Almost all the poultry and palmiped technicians have been trained in this way.

Maïsadour strengthens its commitment to farmers

Mandatory every three years for AEBEA* labelling in the poultry industry, the training covers different themes in each cycle. “This year, the first cycle focuses on water. The next cycle will cover another topic, such as animal feed. According to the AEBEA guidelines, participants must take a 7-hour module every 3 years, with different topics from the previous course,” explains Emilie Lassabe.

In addition to Animal Welfare, the theme of Farmers’ Well-Being at Work is fully supported by Maïsadour’s elected representatives and employees.

This training will enable our technicians, who are already very committed, to provide even better support to farmers and to play an active role in improving their working conditions.
